How To Keep Your T-Shirts From Shrinking In The Wash!

Apparel, Wear and Care

There are few worse feelings in the world than looking in the mirror after putting on a shirt fresh out of the dryer and realizing…..its now six sizes too small. No, all those cookies didn’t add up and its also fairly unlikely that you became The Hulk at the gym (in one session). The culprit here is simple- you didn’t wash and dry your shirt in a way that would prevent it from shrinking! Never fear, we’re here to help in TWO EASY STEPS!

  • WASH COLD. Not only does this help your shirts remain soft and keep the colors vibrant, using cold water doesn’t encourage fabrics to shrink. Make sure the detergent you’re using is specifically designed for cold wash (its as easy as reading the bottle).
  • HANG DRY. This might seem like a lot of work. Some of you might have never encountered a clothesline before (the one at your grandmas house, not the wrestling move, although we hope you haven’t encountered that either). Don’t worry, all you need to do is put your shirt on a hanger and find a suitable door to hang it from for a few hours while it air dries. This will guarantee that your shirts fabric remains in great condition and also that the shape of the shirt is not impacted.

Remember, even if you’re buying pre-shrunk apparel, you should avoid putting your shirts in the dryer at all costs!
