How To Keep Your T-Shirts From Shrinking In The Wash!

Apparel, Wear and Care

There are few worse feelings in the world than looking in the mirror after putting on a shirt fresh out of the dryer and realizing…..its now six sizes too small. No, all those cookies didn’t add up and its also fairly unlikely that you became The Hulk at the gym (in one session). The culprit here is simple- you didn’t wash and dry your shirt in a way that would prevent it from shrinking! Never fear, we’re here to help in TWO EASY STEPS!

  • WASH COLD. Not only does this help your shirts remain soft and keep the colors vibrant, using cold water doesn’t encourage fabrics to shrink. Make sure the detergent you’re using is specifically designed for cold wash (its as easy as reading the bottle).
  • HANG DRY. This might seem like a lot of work. Some of you might have never encountered a clothesline before (the one at your grandmas house, not the wrestling move, although we hope you haven’t encountered that either). Don’t worry, all you need to do is put your shirt on a hanger and find a suitable door to hang it from for a few hours while it air dries. This will guarantee that your shirts fabric remains in great condition and also that the shape of the shirt is not impacted.

Remember, even if you’re buying pre-shrunk apparel, you should avoid putting your shirts in the dryer at all costs!

Urbanite Style Shoot

loveYourCity

Last weekend, one of our team members and photographer Léa collaborated with her friend Ben for a photo shoot across our beloved city of Philadelphia. Our aim was to capture some of the style and culture that we are surrounded with wearing some of our favorite Thread Society gear. These two got to climb around on a rooftop overlooking the city, have a good laugh trying to use the camera’s self-timer setting to get the both of them in a shot, and see some really beautiful street art. Do you love your city? Tell us where you represent! Maybe we’ll pick it as our next destination for a charitable excursion.

Get Organized!

The only thing better than having a drawer full of super soft shirts from ThreadSociety.com is having an organized drawer of ThreadSociety.com shirts. Lets take a minute to straighten things up and make your drawers look neat! Here’s a simple and easy way to organize your shirts:

Problem– With the traditional method of folding and stacking your shirts, you can’t see what is underneath the top shirt. If you’re anything like me, you need to see every single piece of clothing you own before you pick out an outfit.

Solution– Fold up your shirts into small rectangles and stack them standing up against each other. This way you see each shirt and can easily select the one you want.

I hope this helps add a little extra organization to your life. If you have any other good tips for organizing your clothes let me know in a comment.

The Dolman Sleeve

Apparel, Wear and Care

Dolman sleeves have been around for ages and they’ve stood the test of time. They were worn by the Turkish in the 1800s and were fashionable for women during the civil war. They drape wide over the shoulder and taper at the wrist when the sleeves are long, making the waist look smaller. This makes dolman styles extremely comfortable. Add softness and contemporary flair into that mix and you have the perfect Dolman Hoodie and Dolman Tee. Available in multiple colors at www.ThreadSociety.com.LH228-1787-T LS13-1563-T
